MORE INFORMATION:

The design was commissioned by the French aluminum company Alucam in 1954. The table was conceived for use in the restaurant, hotel and private homes of Alucam’s French engineers working in the village of La Sanaga, Cameroon. Whilst this model already existed in steel in France, Prouvé executed this particular version in aluminum, a material that would better endure the humidity of a tropical climate. The buildings within the village of La Sanaga were designed by friends of Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand, Guy Lagneau, Michel Weill and Jean Dimitrijevic.
